Tyvek® Solid 2480B is a polymer fabric with a microfibre structure (100% HDPE). The material is waterproof and windproof while allowing water vapour to pass through. The product is water-repellent, yet allows water vapour to escape from the structure.
Use: The 2480B diffusion membrane is suitable for all types of ventilated and unventilated pitched roofs and façades. It is also suitable for covering timber rafters when thermal insulation has been installed between them.
Installation: When installing the 2480B diffusion membrane on timber rafters, it must be tensioned and secured. The edges of the membrane must overlap along the marked line. If the roof pitch is less than 22° (but no less than 6°), the overlap must be at least 20 cm. The thermal insulation is installed directly beneath the 2480B diffusion membrane. Because it is permeable to water vapour (see technical specifications), no additional ventilation gap is required between the thermal insulation and the 2480B diffusion membrane in a system with a vapour barrier on the inner side of the thermal insulation. Joints between sheets of ISOVER Tyvek® 2480B membrane and all other connections must be sealed with Tyvek® Tape Plus. The surfaces to be taped must be clean (free of dust) and dry, and the air temperature must be at least -5 °C. These conditions ensure good adhesion of the tape to the substrate. Estimated tape consumption: 1 linear metre of tape per 1 m² of wind barrier board.
