Tyvek® Solid 2480B is a polymer fabric with a microfibre structure (100% HDPE). The material is water- and wind-resistant while allowing water vapour to pass through. It repels water but allows water vapour to escape from the structure.
Use: 2480B diffusion membrane is suitable for all types of ventilated and unventilated pitched roofs and façades. It is also suitable for covering timber rafters when thermal insulation is installed between them.
Installation: The 2480B diffusion membrane must be tensioned and secured when installed on timber rafters. The membrane edges must overlap according to the marked line. If the roof pitch is less than 22° (but not less than 6°), the overlap must be at least 20 cm. Thermal insulation is installed directly beneath the 2480B diffusion membrane. It allows water vapour to pass through (see technical properties), so in a system with a vapour barrier on the inner side of the thermal insulation, no additional ventilation gap is required between the insulation and the 2480B membrane. Joints between ISOVER Tyvek®2480B membranes and other connections are sealed with Tyvek® Tape Plus. Surfaces to be taped must be clean (dust-free) and dry, and the air temperature must be at least -5°C. Under these conditions, good adhesion to the substrate is ensured. Tape consumption: 1 linear m of tape per 1 m² of wind barrier board.
