Glued wood panels are made from narrow calibrated timber pieces that are edge-glued together. The panel dimensions remain quite stable because stresses that occur in one part of the board are compensated and balanced in another part. As a result, glued wood panels are stronger and more durable than ordinary timber boards; they also do not crack, split when dry, or warp.
Finger-jointed glued wood panels are made by gluing together pieces of wood with comb-shaped milled ends. In this material, weaker parts of the wood, such as knots, resin pockets, cracks, blue stain and similar defects, are cut out, and sound material is then finger-jointed together. The comb joints remain visible on the side of the panel, while only a fine line is visible on the top and bottom.
Glued wood panels are intended for furniture making, stair construction, handicrafts and interior furnishing. They are also widely used for manufacturing window and door frames.
