Harilik haab oma esteetilise välimusega sobib sauna eriti hästi, kuivõrd ei aja vaiku, tekita eeterlikke aurusid ega lähe kuumaks. Haavale on iseloomulik hele toon ning tänu oma ühtlasele tekstuurile sobib ideaalselt töötlemiseks erinevate pinnatöötlusvahenditega.

Haava termotöötlus toimub spetsiaalses kambris, kus puit kuumutatakse 180 kraadini ja rõhk tõstetakse kuni 9 baarini. Termotöötluse eelis on tema keskkonnasõbralikkus: puitu töödeldakse vaid kõrge temperatuuri ja veeauruga. Töötluse käigus väheneb puidu tihedus ja muutub selle struktuur, mille tõttu vähenevad haava niiskusimavus ja niiskuseraldus. Töötlus parandab ka puidu omadusi: suureneb vastupidavus seenkahjustustele.

Termopuit on tavapuidust märksa tulekindlam, lisaks paraneb puidu soojus- ja heliisolatsioon. Termotöötlus annab ka suurepärase visuaalse efekti: kuumutamise käigus omandab haab ilusa pruuni tooni.
