- This material is well suited for various construction work: beams, battens and timber framing, as well as strips and cladding.

This means wood tries to balance its moisture content with the relative humidity and temperature of the surrounding air. When moisture conditions change, wood either shrinks or swells.
- Spruce absorbs less moisture than pine, so moisture-related dimensional changes in spruce are smaller.
