- A planed beam is timber that has been planed on all four sides.
- Finger-jointed planed beams are produced from pieces of different lengths to maximise the usability of wood while preserving all the natural properties of the timber.
- Finger-jointed timber is significantly more stable and straighter than traditional non-jointed timber, while ensuring comparable strength properties. Thanks to the finger-jointing technique, it is possible to produce sets of long and straight beams suitable for various construction work.
- Strength-graded material must be used in load-bearing structures. In visual strength grading, the number of knots in each beam, their position and the occurrence of defects are assessed separately, and the strength class of the beam is determined on that basis.
- In the C24 marking, C means softwood and 24 indicates the normative bending strength of the sawn timber, N/mm2.
- Weather-resistant D4 adhesive has been used for gluing, making the product suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
- Dimensional accuracy is important for planed timber. Wood is a hygroscopic material, so tangential dimensional changes may occur. This means wood tries to balance its moisture content with the relative humidity and temperature of the surrounding air. When moisture conditions change, wood either shrinks or swells.
- Spruce absorbs less moisture than pine, so moisture-related dimensional changes in spruce are smaller.
